The next morning, her daughter put her right contact lens in her eye and immediately started to scream out in pain. The student realized she'd forgotten her contact lens solution so her friend located a roommate's solution and the contact lenses were soaked in it for the night. One of the most recent cases was reported to us by a woman whose college-age daughter was spending the night at a friend's home. There are also less expensive generic versions available. Many patients wind up in the hospital emergency room. Unfortunately, the product has repeatedly been used by mistake without the special lens case, causing severe pain and, all too often, an eye injury. The product must only be used to soak contact lenses within a special lens case that deactivates the hydrogen peroxide prior to placing the lenses back in the eyes. How this product has not been pulled from the shelves or been the subject of massive lawsuits is beyond me.In December 2010 and again in May 2012, Check-Up warned consumers who wear contact lenses about Clear Care, a lens cleaning product from Ciba Vision (a Novartis company) that contains hydrogen peroxide. When so many other people experience the same disastrous and dangerous results, clearly there is a problem with either the product or the way it is marketed. By the comments of others I see (with the good eye I have left) that I am not the only one. Purchasing this product, thinking it was another 'all in one', I made the horrific mistake of rinsing my lenses with it and suffered a severe burn to my eye! My eyes have never felt such burning and pain. "Hey, let's create a product that can burn people's eyes out, then market it to unsuspecting customers along with 'all in one' solutions on the shelf without placing proper warnings on the box and only a tiny warning on the bottle itself." Are you people who created this product INSANE? But once the 6 hours are up, you can rest assured that your contacts are clean, hydrated, and ready for your eyes. If you try to put them in your eyes before the 6 hours, it will burn from what I've heard, so I would avoid that at all costs. One downside is that once you put your contacts in the solution, you can't take them out and put them in your eyes for a whole six hours, so if you need to see you definitely should have a pair of backup glasses just in case. When I use this on my contacts the night before my normally dry eyes can handle the contacts so much better and for longer, so if you suffer from dry eyes this might be something to try. I also really think this solution hydrates your contacts better than other solutions as well. Your contacts truly feel cleaner when you put them in your eyes after using this solution compared to regular no-rub solutions like Opti-free. This solution keeps your contacts insanely clean with their bubbling action that gets rid of dust, debris, protein, and other residue that might build up on your contacts throughout the day. You don't have to fuss over buying new contact cases all the time or worry that your contacts are building up too much protein or anything like that. I love this contact solution because it's a no-brainer. Even after scorching my eyes with it like five times now, I haven't changed solutions, it is that good. Just have a backup pair of contacts and follow the instructions and you should be fine. But as long as you rinse with water and wear glasses for the rest of the day it is no problem. I have messed up a couple times and it is just like lighting your eye on fire. If you aren't using it correctly though, it's bad. It gets the makeup off of them and the feel new every day. My contacts now stay clear and comfortable for three or more weeks. If you read the box and use it correctly, this solution does the trick. She recommended clear care and gave me all the warnings about not putting it straight into your eyes. My lenses were only staying clear and comfortable for a few days after opening them. I have gone to the optometrist and gotten brand new contacts and when she looked at them there was already protein buildup. I wear a lot of eye makeup, and it is hard on my contacts.
